CONCRETE FLOOR GRINDING

Concrete Floor Grinding

Concrete floor grinding: Diamond tooling for high spots, edges, coating and adhesive removal, and prep for polish or coatings. HEPA dust control keeps occupied buildings working.

WHAT IT SOLVES

Concrete floor grinding — the precise end of surface preparation

Coatings and adhesives to remove

Cutback adhesive, carpet glue, thin-mil coatings and paint all come off with the right diamond tooling, taking the slab back to sound concrete.

High spots and transitions

Grinding takes down high points, feathers slab transitions and flattens trip hazards without the cost of placing material across the whole floor.

Edges a machine cannot reach

Perimeters, corners and the areas around fixed plant have to be ground to match the open field, or the profile is inconsistent where the coating meets the wall.

GRINDING OR BLASTING

Concrete floor grinding — grinding is precise, blasting is fast

They suit different conditions rather than competing. In most cases, on larger projects both run, with grinders handling what the blaster cannot.

Where grinding wins

Occupied buildings, edges and corners, controlled removal depth, high spots, and any job where dust has to be contained tightly.

Where blasting wins

Very large open slabs, heavy contamination, and specifications calling for a deeper ICRI CSP profile than grinding typically produces.

HOW A PROJECT RUNS

How a concrete floor grinding project runs

01

Site assessment

We walk the slab, check its condition, test for moisture where it matters, and give you a clear scope with no vague line items.

02

Grind and remove

Diamond tooling matched to the material removes coatings, adhesives and high spots, with HEPA-managed vacuums running at the machine.

03

Edge work

Perimeters, corners and areas around fixed equipment are ground so the profile stays consistent across the whole floor.

04

Clean handoff

The slab is cleaned down and handed off at a consistent profile, ready for concrete polishing, coating or new flooring.

WHERE WE DO THIS WORK

Where we provide concrete floor grinding

All West Surface Prep is based in Commerce City, Colorado and works across Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and South Dakota. For Denver metro projects specifically, see our concrete grinding in Denver page.

We run out of a Commerce City shop. For Denver building types, access and scheduling, see concrete grinding in Denver.

Concrete floor grinding — common questions about concrete grinding

Can you grind in an occupied building?

Yes, and it is one of the main reasons grinding gets chosen over blasting. HEPA-managed vacuums capture respirable silica at the machine so adjacent areas keep operating.

Will grinding remove old adhesive?

Yes. Cutback adhesive, carpet glue and failed thin coatings are routine removal work with the right tooling.

Is grinding dusty?

Meanwhile, uncontrolled grinding is. We run HEPA dust extraction on every machine, because respirable silica is both a health hazard and an OSHA-regulated one.

Can you fix trip hazards and high spots?

Yes. Grinding down high points and feathering slab transitions is usually faster and cheaper than floor leveling across the whole floor.
