Prep is the job that decides whether a floor fails

Most coating and flooring failures trace back to prep, not product. If the slab still holds old adhesive, curing compound, or a slick troweled surface, whatever goes down next will peel. We remove old coatings, mastic, tile, carpet glue, and thinset, then open the concrete to the right profile so the new system grips. You get a clean, sound, correctly profiled slab that the manufacturer will actually warranty.

How we prep a floor

We start by assessing the slab and identifying what is on it and what is going on top. We match the method to the job: diamond grinding for coatings removal and profiling, shot blasting for large open areas and aggressive profiles, and scarifying or scraping where needed. Dust is contained on every job with HEPA-managed equipment, so we can work in occupied buildings without shutting you down. When we leave, the floor is ready for the installer.

Who we do this for

Warehouses & distribution

Large slabs profiled for coatings or polish, on a schedule that keeps the racks and forklifts moving.

Retail & tenant build-outs

Old tile, carpet, and adhesive removed cleanly so new flooring goes down on a sound slab.

Food & beverage

Aggressive profiles for urethane and epoxy systems that hold up to washdown and traffic.

Healthcare & institutional

Low-dust, low-disruption prep in occupied facilities where downtime is not an option.

Why All West Surface Prep

We have prepped floors across Colorado and the region since 1990. We were Colorado’s first Bomanite certified polisher, and we own the grinders and shot blasters the work calls for instead of renting light equipment and hoping. That means we profile a slab correctly the first time, at the scale your project needs, and hand the next trade a floor that is ready to go.

Frequently asked questions

What is concrete surface profiling?

It is the roughness we open the slab to so a coating or overlay can bond. Different systems need different profiles, from a light grind to an aggressive shot blast. We prep to the profile your product actually requires.

Can you remove old epoxy, tile, and glue?

Yes. We remove old coatings, mastic, tile, thinset, and carpet adhesive, then profile the exposed slab for whatever goes down next.

Will the dust get everywhere?

No. We run HEPA-managed grinding and shot blasting that captures dust at the source, so we can work in occupied buildings.

Do you prep floors outside Denver?

Yes. We cover the Front Range and travel regionally for larger commercial and industrial jobs. Call us with the location.
